A 2006 work, not a retrospective made today
The point of view of this montage belongs to 2006. It is an object created at the time, when Nicchio selected and ordered material that already carried the weight of memory. The video therefore preserves both the years portrayed and the gaze through which they were reorganized in 2006.
Domestic archive transformed into narrative
The material brings together personal and family footage preserved on VHS and other domestic media, digitized during that period. The currently preserved copy is lower in quality than the original master, but that technical loss is itself part of the material history of what survived.
Tonight, Tonight as the musical axis
The montage was built around Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins. The title The More You Change, The Less You Feel was taken from a line in the song. The track organizes the emotional rhythm of the video and turns dispersed domestic images into a continuous narrative about time, change and memory.
Preservation
Over the years, the video survived across different media and platforms, including a CD copy, Vimeo, external-drive storage and a later republication on YouTube. This page now serves as the canonical reference for the object inside the HUB: the playback platform may change, but the address, context and identification of the work remain under the archive's own control.
The preservation strategy will be expanded with a redundant copy independent of the primary platform and a technical fingerprint for the preserved file.
